Clinical Pharmacy |
The clinical pharmacist is an essential component of the multidisciplinary health care team. Our clinical pharmacists all have a Doctor of Pharmacy or Master’s degree from the United States or Britain. Departments currently supported with a clinical pharmacist include: Paediatrics, Cardiology, Intensive Care units and Surgery. Our future plan is to include Oncology, Internal Medicine and Ambulatory Care. |

Drug Information Service (DIS) |
The DIS provides free drug consultation services for physicians, nurses, dentists and other healthcare professionals as well as patients. We are here to provide reliable, comprehensive and timely answers to drug related questions directly applicable to patient care. Please call 6677777 EXT 1717 or 1711 if you have any drug inquiry. |

Inpatient Pharmacy |
The Inpatient Pharmacy is open for business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, thus providing around the clock service for hospitalised patients. We employ the latest technologies and procedures to ensure efficiency, safety and compliance with Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA) standards. One example is the “unit dose system”, an internationally recognized method of providing safe and efficient drug distribution. Another example is the aseptic preparation of intravenous medications such as antibiotics and cancer drugs using state-of-the-art laminar flow hoods. The Total Parenteral Nutrition service uses state-of-the-art equipment and is run by qualified pharmacists. |

Narcotic Pharmacy |
KFSH & RC-Jeddah strictly follows the rules and guidelines laid out by the Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH). We make sure we have sufficient medication in stock to meet patients’ needs. |
Oncology Pharmacy |
The Oncology Pharmacy works closely with health care professional teams to ensure cancer patients receive optimum quality health care. For example, detailed records are kept for each patient once they start chemotherapy. This helps us maintain complete records for oncology patients in order to provide the best quality service. |
Outpatient Pharmacy |
The Outpatient Pharmacy is a visibly active and important care center at KFSHRC – Jeddah. Located next to the coffee shop on the ground floor, we are open 7 days a week, from 7 am to 12 midnight. On average we process over 750 prescriptions a day. As providers of pharmaceutical care we review and check each prescription, which means sometimes we have to contact the physician or nurse to clarify a prescription. Recently, a private counselling area was set up where patients can discuss their drug therapy with the pharmacist. We feel it is essential that each patient understand his or her medicine. Always remember “educate before you medicate, knowledge is the best medicine”. |
