Education and Training |

The Department provides several educational avenues for staff. For example, there is an ongoing training program in phlebotomy and a program for newly graduated medical technologists. As well, a pathology resident is presently completing his training in Ontario, Canada. |

Medical Technology Training Program |
|
Since the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center-Jeddah is a highly standardized facility that adheres to the standards of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Food & Drug Agency (FDA), the American Association of Blood Bank (AABB), and the Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA) we have established a two-year medical technology training program for science graduates. The goal of this program is to ensure participants receive exemplary training as well as ensuring the integrity and standard of the medical technology profession within the healthcare services of the Kingdom. Highly qualified individuals from KFSH&RC-Jeddah and other recognized health care institutions and hospitals instruct the course. |

Program Components
4Formal lectures are given covering the core curriculum 4Direct studying is conducted using library, laboratory, and conferences 4Supervised off-bench laboratory experience is provided to cover core curriculum
A supervised on-the-job training period will be spent in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine |

Student Admission requirements |

The number of students accepted is limited in order to insure proper delivery of information and training. In order to be eligible to apply for the Medical Technology Training Program candidates must meet the following criteria:
4To be a Saudi national. 4To hold a bachelor degree in science (Biology or Chemistry) major /allied health. 4Must pass a English language examination. 4To pass a department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine examination & interview. 4To pass a pre-employment medical examination. |
