The Department of Dentistry performs its clinical practice in nine clinics and surgical suites equipped with state-of-the-art dental units and an advanced digital radiography network. 

The Department provides a full range of services through six functional sections:

4      General Dentistry – is composed of two clinics.  It offers the highest standard quality of general dental care for the hospital’s inpatients and outpatients as well as medically-compromised patients

4      Prosthodontics – offers quality prosthodontic care using the latest techniques and materials such as crowns, bridges, implant-supported restorations, cosmetic procedures, complete and partial dentures and complete mouth reconstruction.

4      Endodontics – offers both conventional and surgical treatment.  It is well equipped with quality instruments used to deliver the best treatment for the patients. 

4      Pedodontics – provides comprehensive care for children through prevention and management of dental cavities and periodontal disease.  Also it offers treatment for all aspects of tooth and oclusal developmental disturbances, traumatic injuries, oral pathological conditions, juvenile prosthodontics, pain control using advanced sedation techniques or general anesthesia and dental treatment of handicapped and medically-compromised children.

4      Orthodontics – takes care of all minor and major orthodontic problems in addition to the facial abnormalities and cleft palate patient care in coordination with other dental and hospital specialties.

4            Maxillofacial Surgery–in the maxillofacial surgical suites perform all dental alveolar surgeries in coordination with other dental and hospital specialties in addition to facial traumas such as:

4 Cleft lip and palate repair

4 Facial tumours

4 Facial reconstruction

4 Facial aesthetic surgery

 

Tertiary care services are available for patients who are:

4      Medically-compromised

4      Have facial pain

4      Require comprehensive prosthetics

4      Who need general anesthesia for dental treatment

The Department also assigns team members to join the hospital’s Cleft Palate and Head and Neck Oncology teams.

Dental Laboratory

The Dental Laboratory of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center-Jeddah is a state-of-the-art; specialized, full service laboratory located on-site and staffed by fully qualified technicians.

Dental Equipments

 

The Dental Laboratory fully supports the Dental Department in the Hospital and offers services to private clinics and the university.  Our specialized work varies from preparing simple bleaching trays to ceramic attachments and very sophisticated full arch implant cases.

Training and continuing education is also a significant part of our service.  Dental laboratory trainees receive monitoring and supervision to Western, North American standards and our staff regularly participate in educational activities to ensure knowledge and skills are current and proficient.  Continuing education is also offered and provided to the dental community of Jeddah.

Specialized dental work is unique in the Western Region and we are proud to announce the era of Scanning Dentistry at KFSH&RC-Jeddah with procera as well as esthetic procedures, all utilising porcelain and other materials such as direct reinforced composite, mild zirconia, alumina oxide porcelain and pressable porcelain.  All this will be offered.  In addition to conventional work such as crowns, bridges, ortho-appliances, removable complete dentures and cobalt chrome, our new laboratory facilities, which are presently under construction, will be spacious and well designed.  When completed, these facilities will also contain 12 fully equipped spaces, which can be utilised for training and as an educational center.
