King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre- Jeddah Branch recently conducted a “Press Conference” regarding the on going hospital expansion held last January 10, 2010 under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Qasim Al Qasabi, the Chief Executive Director of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and Tariq Linjawi, M.D., the Executive Director of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre-Jeddah Branch. The event was successfully attended by all Media Groups including several famous Writers and Journalist across the Kingdom.

HE Dr. Qasim Bin Othman Al Qasabi, the Chief Executive Director of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, announced that based on the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, more than 400 million Saudi Riyals in debts owed by KFSH&RC, Jeddah were to be paid. The debts accrued prior to Jeddah’s amalgamation with the General Organization have been paid to the concerned companies, establishments and hotels, according to a recommendation issued by the ministerial committee assigned for this purpose. The ministerial committee is under the chairmanship of HE Dr. Fahad Al Abdul Jabbar, Chairman of the General Organization’s Board of Directors. Other members of the committee include representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the General Control Bureau.
The Hospital’s prospective expansion plan has been approved to increase the Hospital’s current capacity from 330 beds to 760 beds. A contract has been signed with Vanir Construction Management Company to supervise the mega project related to this expansion. The American International Architectural Company (RTKL) has been selected as the Architects & Engineers for KFSH&RC, Jeddah new mega project. The partnership composed of Vanir and RTKL companies will be jointly responsible for the timely execution of the project. The project is intended to comply with the Hospital’s requirements for the next twenty years. The provision of tertiary and quality health care for the patients in the Western Region of the Kingdom, active participation in continuous medical education and specialized medical research are all objectives of this project and the resulting expanded services.
The first phase of this expansion will provide 430 additional beds to the current bed level of 330 beds. This expansion represents a major step towards promoting and supporting a center(s) of excellence model of healthcare. This project will enhance the leading role the Hospital currently has in providing specialized medical care services whether inside the Kingdom or for patients from countries in the region.
All these projects are executed by virtue of the support and directions of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his faithful Crown Prince. The goal is to promote high quality tertiary health care services and to further support the Hospital to become a highly specialized international health care center for the treatment of complicated and intractable diseases.
