Dr. Tariq Linjawi, Executive Director, inaugurated the Graduation Ceremony for Nursing Staff that was held in the auditorium on Wednesday 10th June 2009, attended by graduates, family members and members of the multidisciplinary health care team.
Dr. Linjawi spoke to the graduates and their families, appreciating their contribution to health care within the community.
Dr. Sandy Lovering, Chief of Nursing, emphasized the importance of the continuing professional development of nurses striving towards the vision of KFSH&RC (Gen.Org.) in her opening speech. She elaborated on the various learning opportunities for Saudi and expatriate nurses, and supported the words of Dr. Linjawi that the hospital fosters an environment where continuous learning is valued.
Hanadi Yaseen, Act. Education Coordinator, who recently graduated with a Masters in Nursing Science at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, Scotland, took the audience on a journey of her personal experiences of being a Saudi woman pursuing a career within the profession of nursing. Although the journey took her longer than anticipated, in looking back she realized that the clinical experience that she had gained contributed to the success of her formal studies.
On behalf of the Neonatal Intensive Care Certificate graduates, Ginsu Varghese expressed their graditute towards Lisa Cronje, HN, Salma Najjar, CNC, Dr. Estelle Bester, and Nursing Education for their motivation and continuous support.
The individual experiences of the four graduates of the Post-Graduate Oncology Diploma Program was presented by Amal Al Othmani. Retrospectively it had been a year filled with challenges, opportunities, excitement and joy leading to professional fulfillment becoming an oncology specialized nurse.
A special thank you went to the many presenters and contributors, who were acknowledged with appreciation certificates during the event.
