There are a growing number of benign hematology cases attended by the Section of Adult Hematology/BMT and Pediatric Hematology, with a growing number of such cases referred to us from all over the Western region. Additionally, this has become a very important component of the consultation service of the program for different departments in the hospital. |

Bone Marrow Transplantation Program |
|
The Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the KFSH&RC-Jeddah remains the only such program in the entire western region. Currently, patients with various malignant disorders are treated under this service. The program is supervised by consultant physicians with expertise in this very specialized area and supported by two full-time program coordinators. |

Palliative Care and Home Health Care Service |
|
This is the only service of its kind in the entire western region supervised by a specialty board certified consultant. The section of palliative care played a key role in the establishment of the Home Health Care Service, which has made a tremendous contribution to the care of terminally ill patients. Currently, the HHC service is doing home visits for more than 500 patients weekly. |

Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Program |

Within the last couple of years, the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Program has made tremendous progress and is very firmly established. The program supervised by two board certified consultant physicians is now attracting patients from all over the region due to the high quality and unparalleled service available for the children. The most recent addition is the new chemotherapy area where special arrangements have been made in collaboration with the Social Services Department to have a fun environment for the patients. |

Radiation Oncology |

The Radiation Oncology service is one of the most glorious examples of collaboration between two institutions with results unparalleled anywhere in the Kingdom. The service continues to progress, keeping up with new developments in the field and the high standard of care hallmark of the KFSH&RC-Jeddah healthcare system.
Since start of year 2007; a new achievement in radiation oncology field had been established; the Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) service that offers the state of art in the field of radiation oncology that permits a highly meticulous radiation therapy delivery with the least anticipated toxicity. It is now the modality of choice in the Western oncology centers and limited number of centers in the Middle East. |

4 High-Dose-Rate Brachytherapy is now operational at the KFSH&RC-Jeddah. Initially, the service started with gynecological malignancies (endometrial and cervix cancer), then ano-rectal cancers were included and recently breast brachytherapy. This service has a high-tech state of the art setup with computerized planning aided by x-ray, CT and MRI modalities.
4 Pediatric Radiotherapy was initiated and made available to all pediatric oncology patients. The most advanced treatment technique, a CT-based simulation technique with 3D planning and the use of “Virtual Simulation” has been developed. A tremendous effort is made to educate and support patients, which remains an integral component of our overall care. |
