The Cardiovascular Department of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre offers an extensive range of diagnostic, preventive, interventional, and surgical services. Utilizing state of the art techniques our physicians and surgeons provide a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary patient centered care in a number of specialized areas.

4 Cardiac Catherization and Interventional Cardiology - this deals with all aspects of heart disease ranging from congenital heart disease to coronary artery disease and adult congenital heart disease. All diagnostic and interventional procedures are done in two state of the art cardiac catherization laboratories lead by well-trained cardiologists in the field of interventional cardiology.

4 The Cardiac Arrhythmia and Pacemaker Service carries out special clinics for pacemaker, palpitations and arrhythmias. This service provides diagnostic and therapeutic services such as electro-physiology testing, radio frequency ablation, pacemaker implantation, bi-ventricular pacemaker implantation and automatic internal cardiac defibrillators.

4 Non-Invasive Cardiac Laboratory offers all modalities of stress-testing, nuclear cardiology and cardiac ultrasound using modern techniques and state-of- the-art equipment. For more Information,please click here .

4 Cardiac Transplantation and Heart Failure – the Cardiovascular Department runs a heart failure transplant clinic that follows patients with advanced heart failure and who are in need of cardiac transplantation and then follows them with post cardiac transplantation.

4 Adult Congenital Heart Disease – our program caters to a unique patient population with congenital heart disease diagnosed in adulthood and follows patients into their adulthood post surgery.

4 The Cardiothoracic Surgery Division performs cardiothoracic surgical procedures such as coronary bypass operations (on-pump and off-pump), valvular surgery, complex congenital heart disease and adult congenital heart disease surgery, lung and cardiac transplantation. These specialized services are performed by prominent cardiothoracic surgeons in the field of cardiothoracic surgery; each specialized in his area of expertise.

The Cardiovascular Department combines an enormous experience of consultants specialized in cardiovascular medicine and surgery based on evidence-based medicine and best standards of care.

Mission

Our mission is to provide high quality diagnostic tests for the patients of KFSH&RC-Jeddah using state-of-the-art technology by highly qualified professional staff….

Objectives

1. To provide high quality diagnostic non-invasive tests.

2. To promote continuing medical education of staff to ensure the best quality of service.

3. To recruit and train Saudi personnel to become leaders in the field of non-invasive cardiovascular diagnoses.

4. To continue the quality improvement plan to increase productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness, and ultimately patient satisfaction.

5. To provide the optimum environment for research in cardiovascular diseases.

6. To encourage collaborative work with other departments to secure optimal and fully integrated patient care.

7. To be recognized and certified by the Joint Commission International Accreditation, which reflects our compliance with the international standards in providing cardiac non-invasive tests and medical education for the well-being of the patient.

Clinical Services

We are proud to announce that more than 30,000 diagnostic procedures in the cardiology non-invasive laboratory at KFHS&RC-Jeddah were performed over the last four years.

These procedures cover 16 different non-invasive diagnostic testing modalities, namely:

1. Resting 12-lead ECG

2. Holter Monitor Recording

3. Transtelephonic Event Recording (King of Heart)

4. Ambulatory BP Recording

5. Tilt-Table Test

6. Pacemaker/AICD Check up

7. Regular Exercise Stress Test

8. Exercise Stress Nuclear Scan

9. Dipyridamole Stress Nuclear Scan

10. Dobutamine Stress Nuclear Scan

11. Adult 2D Echocardiogram

12. Pediatric 2D Echocardiogram

13. Exercise Stress Echocardiogram

14. Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram

15. Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)

16. Fetal Echocardiogram

These tests are offered to patients of all age groups, children and adults, and even to unborn children during fetal life.

For Echocardiography alone, we performed more than 12,000 2D Echo/Doppler studies for adults and more than 7,000 studies for pediatrics or children over the same period.

What is more important and relevant is to mention that all these tests are provided by highly qualified members of the non-invasive cardiac laboratory. They include North American board certified adult and pediatric cardiologists, supported by competent and up to the standard technologists and nursing staff.
